Conduct: On 29 June 2020 Amjad Mohammed (“Mr Mohammed”) caused UVR (Scotland) Ltd (“UVR”) previously known as “The Car and Van Hire Business Ltd” to apply for a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £50,000 using overstated turnover figures at a time when he knew or ought to have known that the company was not eligible for the loan, in that: • Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019 or where a business was established after 1 January 2019 it is their estimated turnover. • URV was incorporated 9 January 2020 • On 29 June 2020 UVR applied for and obtained a BBL of £50,000. In the application Mr Mohammed declared UVR’s turnover as £275,000. The BBL funds were transferred into UVR’s company bank account held with the lender on 8 July 2020. • Mr Mohammed has not clarified when the company commenced trading. The company bank statements show activity between 14 Feb 2020 to 8 July 2020, it’s unclear if there was any potential trade activity. • The company bank statements disclose from 9 July 2020 to 20 April 2021, the date the account was closed, that there was no trade/sales activity. • No company accounts have been filed at Companies House. • Mr Mohammed has provided no evidence of how the turnover figure of £275,000 was determined. • On 21 November 2022, UVR entered Creditors Voluntary Liquidation with known liabilities of £50,000 which is owed in respect of the BBL.
