Conduct: On 03 June 2020, Paul Gray caused Ceramic Porcelain Stone Company Limited (“The Company”) to make a false application for a bounce back loan (“BBL”) in the amount of £50,000 when he knew, or ought to have known, that the company’s turnover could not support such an application in that: • Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019, or where a business was established after 1 January 2019 it is their estimated turnover. • The turnover figures in the company’s two accounting periods prior to the application for the loan were: o Feb 2019 £105,271 o Feb 2020 £95,498 • An analysis of the company’s bank statements, for the period 01 January 2019 to 31 December 2019 shows that a maximum of £125,000 of trading income was received. • The company’s application was made on 03 June 2020 with a stated turnover of £200,000. • Paul Gray caused the company to receive £50,000 instead of £31,250 to which it was entitled, at most.
