Conduct: Salwa Tabassum Chowdhury (“Ms Chowdhury”) breached her duties as a director of RN Sylhet Ltd t/a Indian Lounge (“RNS”) by failing to ensure that it complied with legislative requirements, in that: • RNS did not comply with its statutory obligations under The Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006 resulting in the employment of 1 person who did not have the right to work in the UK. • The Home Office Immigration Enforcement (“HOIE”) received information from HM Revenue & Customs which showed that the individual employed by RNS for the tax years 2021 to 2023, was not eligible to work in the UK. • HOIE after investigating RNS issued a Notification of Liability for a Civil Penalty of £15,000 in respect of the employment of this worker, payment of which was due on or before 2 July 2024. • RNS has not paid the penalty due to HOIE. • Ms Chowdhury was the sole appointed director of the company at the time of the breach of the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality legislation.
