Conduct: On 9 June 2020, Mr Mahmood Bham (“Mr Bham”) caused Direction Media Ltd (‘the Company’) to make a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) application when he knew, or ought to have known, that the Company turnover did not support such an application. As a result, the Company received BBL funds of £50,000 that it was not entitled to, in that: Under the BBL scheme, businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of its turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019 or where a business was established after 1 January 2019 it is their estimated turnover from the date the business started.?? The Company was incorporated on 6 August 2019. No accounts have been filed at Companies House for the Company. Mr Bham applied for a BBL of £50,000 on behalf of the Company, declaring that its turnover for the calendar year 2019 was £300,000. The Company operated one known bank account, opened during June 2020, which shows no transactions prior to receipt of the BBL funds on 10 June 2020. No evidence has been provided to support the declared turnover of £300,000. Total liabilities at liquidation amounted to £50,001 of which £50,000 relates to the amount owed in respect of the BBL.
