Conduct: On 22 May 2020 Mr Kaveh Mahdavi (“Mr Mahdavi”) caused SK CORE TECHNOLOGIES LTD (“SCT”) to apply for a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £50,000 using a turnover figure that he knew or ought to have known was overstated, which resulted in SCT obtaining a BBL that was more than it was entitled in that: • Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019 or where a business was established after 1 January 2019 it is their estimated turnover. • SCT was incorporated on a 17 July 2019. • On 22 May 2020, Mr Mahdavi applied for a BBL of £50,000 on behalf of SCT declaring that its estimated turnover was £276,000. • SCT submitted company accounts to the year ended 31 July 2020, which include comparative figures for the year ended 31 July 2019. No turnover was declared in either period. Available bank statements show income of £85.06 into the company bank account from 27 May 2020 to 26 May 2021, indicating there was no reasonable basis on which the company could have declared turnover of £276,000 for the purposes of obtaining a Bounce Back Loan. • SCT received the BBL funds of £50,000 on 26 May 2020. • Total liabilities at liquidation amount to £44,306 of which £43,000 remains outstanding in respect of the BBL.
