Conduct: On or around 26 August 2020, Kashif Mahmood (“Mr Mahmood”) provided false information regarding the turnover of Kash of all Trades Ltd (“Kash”) in order to obtain a BBL of £48,500 when he knew or ought to have known Kash was not entitled. In that: • Under the BBL scheme rules, a company was eligible for a one BBL of 25% of its 2019 calendar year turnover, of a minimum of £2,000 up to a maximum of £50,000. When making an application for a BBL, an applicant had to self-certify the company’s 2019 calendar year turnover. Where a company commenced trading after 01 January 2019, the applicant could estimate the Company’s annual turnover from the date it started. • Kash was incorporated on 15 July 2019 • As Kash had been trading since July 2019, Mr Mahmood ought to have provided the actual annual turnover from the date Kash started business on the BBL application. • A bank account was opened on or around 06 June 2020. • On or around 26 August 2020, Mr Mahmood applied to the bank for a BBL in the sum of £48,500 having declared that Kash’s turnover was in excess £194,000. • Accounts for the 12 months ending 31 July 2020 record turnover of £5,350. Based on this, Kash was not entitled to the minimum amount of £2,000. • The BBL proceeds of £48,500 were received on 26 August 2020. • At Liquidation the sum of £36,167 remained outstanding in respect of the BBL.
