Conduct: Sohaib Ahmed (“Mr Ahmed”) caused FAIRY CLEANINGS LIMITED T/A Fairy Cleaning (“FCL”) to obtain a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £50,000 to which it was not entitled, as it was not carrying on its business on 01 March 2020, contrary to the terms and conditions of the BBL scheme and failed to use at least £48,804 of the BBL for the economic benefit of FCL. In that: • The BBL Scheme terms and conditions state that applicants applying for a BBL on behalf of the business are required to declare that the business was engaged in trading or commercial activity at the date of the BBL application; had been carrying on business on 01 March 2020 and had been adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic. • On 15 August 2020, FCL obtained a BBL of £50,000. Mr Ahmed declared that FCL’s estimated turnover was £200,000. • FCL’s first credit payment was the BBL payment on 17 August 2020. • The company filed dormant accounts signed by Mr Ahmed for the period 2 July 2019 – 31 July 2020. • FCL was not carrying on its business 01 March 2020, contrary to the terms and conditions of the scheme; and was not entitled to the BBL funds. • Mr Ahmed caused FCL to expend the £48,804 BBL funds for purposes that did not provide economic benefit to FCL. • FCL was placed into liquidation on 27 November 2024. • Total liabilities at liquidation amount to £51,506 of which the entirety relates to the amount owed in respect of the BBL.
