Conduct: On 11 June 2020, Ms Ambreen Arshad Dar (“Ms Dar”) allowed Affordable Uni Ltd (“AUL”) to apply for a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £50,000 using an overestimated turnover figure when she knew or ought to have known that it was not eligible for a BBL, in that: • Under the BBL scheme, businesses could apply for a BBL of up to 25% of their 2019 turnover, from a minimum of £2,000 to a maximum of £50,000. Businesses incorporated after 01 January 2019 were asked to estimate their turnover from the date the business started. • AUL was incorporated on 13 June 2019. • AUL opened a company bank account in October 2019. The only payments into the account prior to 11 June 2020 were from the directors and a refund from a plumber’s merchant. The first trading income was received into the account on 07 February 2021. • On 11 June 2020, an associated director applied for a £50,000 BBL on behalf of AUL, declaring an estimated company turnover of £200,000. • On 22 June 2020, AUL received the £50,000 BBL funds into the company bank account. • Dormant accounts were filed for the year ended 30 June 2020. • Therefore, AUL had no turnover and was not eligible to receive any BBL funds. • AUL entered Creditors Voluntary Liquidation on 06 November 2024 with liabilities of £46,031, of which £40,931 was due in respect of the BBL. Find A Uni Limited On 25 August 2020, Ms Ambreen Arshad Dar (“Ms Dar”) caused Find A Uni Limited (“FAUL”) to apply for a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £50,000 when she knew or ought to have known that it was not eligible to do so, in that: • Under the BBL scheme, businesses could apply for a BBL of up to 25% of their 2019 turnover, from a minimum of £2,000 to a maximum of £50,000. Businesses incorporated after 01 January 2019 were asked to estimate their turnover from the date the business started. • FAUL was incorporated on 03 June 2019. Dormant company accounts were filed for the year ended 30 June 2020. • The first transaction in the bank account was a loan from the associated director, which was received on 18 August 2020. • On 25 August 2020, Ms Dar applied for a £50,000 BBL on behalf of FAUL, declaring an estimated company turnover of £200,000. • On 26 August 2020, FAUL received the £50,000 BBL funds into the company bank account. • Therefore, FAUL was not carrying on business on 01 March 2020 and was not eligible to receive any BBL funds. • FAUL entered Creditors Voluntary Liquidation on 28 February 2022 with liabilities of £60,683, of which £50,731 was due in respect of the BBL.
