Conduct: Makhan Paul Nar (“Mr Nar”) caused Reeven Autos Ltd (“Reeven”) to receive a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £50,000 using overstated turnover figures, which resulted in Reeven obtaining a higher BBL amount that he knew or ought to have known that it was not entitled to. In that: • Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019 or where a business was established after 1 January 2019 it is their estimated turnover from the date the business started. • Reeven was incorporated on 23 May 2019 and the bank account used by the company was opened on 25 May 2019. • Mr Nar applied for a BBL of £50,000, on behalf of Reeven, declaring that its turnover for the year from the day Reeven started was £200,000. • Reeven received a BBL of £50,000 on 13 May 2020. • Bank statements show between 25 May 2019 and 13 May 2020, a total of £11,671 was paid into the account. • After the receipt of the BBL on 13 May 2020, no further payments were made into the company account. • Total liabilities at Liquidation amount to £51,332, all of which relates to the amount owed in respect of the BBL.
