Conduct: On 07 October 2020, Faheem Ahmed (‘Mr Ahmed’) caused T K International 1 Ltd (‘TKI1’) to breach the terms and conditions of the Bounce Back Loan Scheme (‘BBL’) by overstating the turnover of TKI1 on the BBL application form, resulting in TKI1 receiving a loan which it was not entitled to, in that: • The BBL scheme terms and conditions allowed the applicant to request a loan amount between £2,000 and £50,000, with an individual upper limit of 25% of a self-certified turnover amount. • The turnover statement required applicants to state their turnover during the 2019 calendar year unless the business had started after 01 January 2019, in which case the applicant could estimate their annual turnover from the date the business started. • TKI1 was incorporated on 18 January 2019 and was entitled to estimate its annual turnover in the BBL application. The only bank statements delivered start on 07 October 2020 and no other bank accounts are known of • HM Revenue and Customs (‘HMRC’) received a self-assessment of Corporation Tax due for the period 18 January 2019 to 17 January 2020, which records a declared annual turnover of £5,169. A turnover of £5,169 would not have entitled TKI1 to a BBL • On 07 October 2020, Mr Ahmed completed a BBL application for TKI1 and stated that the company had a turnover of £195,000, requesting a BBL of £48,750 • On 04 November 2020, TKI1’s bank statements record a deposit of £48,750, • As a result of Mr Ahmed’s overstatement of turnover, TKI1 received £48,750. more than it was entitled to • Mr Ahmed has provided insufficient evidence to support the estimated turnover figure he declared in the BBL application. • On 15 June 2022, TKI1 entered Creditors Voluntary Liquidation. • Total liabilities at liquidation amount to £48,750 of which £48,750 is owed in respect of the BBL.
