Conduct: On 23 November 2020, Christopher King ("Mr King) caused Unique Underdogs Ltd ("UUL") to apply for a Bounce Back Loan ("BBL") of £50,000 which under the scheme UUL had insufficient turnover to qualify for. This resulted in UUL obtaining a BBL that was £50,000 more than it was entitled to. In that: Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019 or where a business was established after 1 January 2019 it is their estimated turnover from the date the business was established. UUL was incorporated on 18 September 2018. The company estimated its turnover for its BBL application as it wasn’t fully “established” prior to 2019. On 23 November 2020, UUL submitted an application for a BBL estimating that its turnover was £250,000 (since starting its business). It subsequently received £50,000 on the same day into its bank account. UUL’s bank account shows that £1,157 trading income was received during the 2019 calendar year. On 24 November 2020, UUL received the £50,000 BBL into its bank account. Total liabilities at liquidation amount to £47,713.45 which relates to the amount owed in respect of the BBL.
