Conduct: Mr Iftekhar Ahmed Mishu (“Mr Mishu”) caused MZR Trading Ltd (“MZR”) to breach the terms of the Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) Scheme by overstating its turnover on its application for a BBL resulting in MZR receiving a BBL of £50,000, £22,685 more than what it was entitled to receive. Mr Mishu knew, or ought to have known, that MZR was ineligible for a loan of £50,000 in that: • The BBL scheme allowed businesses to apply for a BBL if they were engaged in trading or commercial activity in the UK at the date of the application, were carrying on business on 01 March 2020 and had been adversely affected by Covid. A business could receive a loan of up to 25% of their annual turnover for the 2019 calendar year, which the applicant would self-certify when completing the BBL application. • MZR was incorporated on 3 April 2018. • The company accounts for period ending 31 July 2019 declare a turnover of £109,262. • The company accounts for period ending 31 July 2020 declare a turnover of £64,618. • Based on the BBL criteria and company accounts turnover, the company was entitled to receive no more than £27,315. • MZR received a BBL of £50,000 to which it was not fully entitled to, after Mr Mishu declared in the BBL application that the turnover for the 2019 calendar year was £200,000. • MZR entered Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidation on 26 October 2022. • At liquidation, MZR owed £43,324.86 of which £41,164.86 was owed to the Bank in respect of the BBL.
