Conduct: On or around 12 January 2021, Betty Williams (“Ms Williams”) caused Taste and See Co. Limited (“Taste”) to apply for a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £50,000 when it did not meet the criteria for any amount under the BBL scheme. Ms Williams also caused Taste to expend at least £24,500 of the BBL funds for purposes that did not provide economic benefit to Taste, in breach of the BBL terms and conditions. In that: • Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019 or where a business was established after 1 January 2019 it is their estimated turnover. • Taste was incorporated on 20 February 2017. • On or around 12 January 2021, Ms Williams applied for a BBL of £50,000 on behalf of Taste declaring that its turnover for the calendar year 2019 was £275,000. • Taste’s accounts for periods ended 28 February 2019 and 29 February 2020 disclose no turnover. • Taste received the BBL funds of £50,000 on 12 January 2021. • Between 2 February 2021 and 30 August 2021, Ms Williams caused Taste to pay at least £24,500 to her personal bank account from the BBL funds. • Total liabilities at liquidation amount to £65,637 of which £50,637 relates to the amount owed in respect of the BBL.
