Conduct: On or before 17 September 2020, Elizabeth Mary Teckkam (“Miss Teckkam”) provided incorrect information concerning the turnover of Manor Farm Spar and Clinic Ltd (“Manor Farm”) to obtain a BBL of £50,000 when she knew or ought to have known that Manor Farm was only entitled to a BBL of £30,117 based on its turnover. In that: • Under the BBL scheme rules, a company could borrow between £2,000 and a maximum of £50,000 based on 25% of the company’s turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019, or where a business was established after 01 January 2019 it is their estimated annual turnover from the date that the business was started. • Manor Farm was incorporated on 08 December 2016. • Miss Teckkam was appointed as a director 09 December 2019 having purchased the shares from a previous director. • Due to Manor Farm being already established on 01 January 2019, Miss Teckkam was not eligible to estimate Manor Farm’s turnover. • Bank statements for the year 01 January to 31 December 2019 show income of £120,468 making Manor Farm eligible for a maximum BBL of £30,117. • The accounts for the year ending 31 December 2019 record a turnover of £84,241. • On 17 September 2020, Miss Teckkam applied to a bank for a BBL in the sum of £50,000 having stated that Manor Farm’s turnover was £200,000. • By applying for a BBL of £50,000 Manor Farm received £19,883 more than it was entitled to. • At liquidation, the sum of £35,968 remained outstanding in respect of the BBL.
