Conduct: Aurel Stoica (“Mr Stoica”) caused Country Star Paving Limited (“CSP”) to falsely overstate its turnover on its application for a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) resulting in CSP receiving at least £34,730 more than it was entitled to. In that: CSP’s financial statements for the year ending 30 September 2019 shows a turnover of £14,600. CSP’s financial statements for the year ending 30 September 2020 shows a turnover of £46,480. The BBL criteria allowed a business to borrow between £2,000 and up to 25% of the company turnover in 2019 (up to a maximum of a £50,000 loan). Based on the financial statements for the years ending 30 September 2019 and 30 September 2020 , CSP had a total turnover of £61,080 . Even if all of that turnover had been incurred during the calendar year 2019 CSP would have been entitled to receive a BBL of £15,270. Mr Stoica applied for a BBL of £50,000 on behalf of the company, stating in the loan application that CSP’s turnover for 2019 was £210,000. On 16 November 2020, funds of £50,000 were credited to CSP’s bank account. At the date of liquidation on 20 December 2021, a total of £54,920 was due to creditors including the full amount of the BBL.
