Conduct: On 18 May 2020 Nabeel Shakoor (“Mr Shakoor”) caused EZ Trade Ltd (“EZ Trade”) to apply for a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £48,750 using overstated turnover figures, which resulted in EZ Trade obtaining a BBL which he knew or ought to have known was more than it was entitled to in breach of the BBL terms and conditions. In that: • Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019 or where a business was established after 1 January 2019 it is their estimated turnover. • EZ Trade was incorporated on 30 October 2015. • On 18 May 2020, Mr Shakoor applied for a BBL of £48,750 on behalf of EZ Trade declaring that its turnover for the calendar year 2019 was £195,000. • EZ Trade’s bank statements show incoming payments during calendar year 2019 totalling £11,973. • Accounts dated 31 October 2021 show turnover of £2,956 and 2020 turnover of £18,923. • EZ Trade received the BBL funds of £48,750 on 19 June 2020. • Total liabilities at liquidation amount to £37,017 of which £37,017 relates to the amount owed in respect of the BBL.
