Conduct: On 19 May 2020 Gerald Melksham (“Mr. Melksham”) caused Classic Build of Bath Ltd (“CBOB”) to apply for a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £47,500 using overstated turnover figures, which resulted in CBOB obtaining a BBL that was £23,884 more than it was entitled to, in that: • Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019 or where a business was established after 1 January 2019 it is their estimated turnover. • CBOB was incorporated on 29 April 2015. • On 19 May 2020, Mr Melksham applied for a BBL of £47,500 on behalf of CBOB declaring that its turnover for the calendar year 2019 was £190,000. • Accounts filed for the year ending 30 April 2019 show turnover of £94,464. • Accounts filed for the year ending 30 April 2020 show turnover of £44,165 • CBOB received the BBL funds of £47,500 on 19 June 2020. • By declaring the turnover as £190,000, CBOB received a BBL of at least £23,884 more than it was entitled to. • CBOB made BBL repayments of £7,192 • CBOB entered Creditor’s Voluntary Liquidation on 10 May 2023 • Total liabilities at liquidation amount to £47,042 of which £42,972 relates to the amount owed in respect of the BBL.
