Conduct: On 07 December 2020, John Robert Mamelok (“Mr Mamelok”) caused 9384327 Limited (“9384327”), previously known as Mamelok Ltd, to overstate the turnover of the company to enable it to obtain a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £50,000 when he knew, or ought to have known, that the company was not eligible to apply for that amount, in that: • Under the BBL scheme, businesses could apply for a BBL of up to 25% of their 2019 turnover, from a minimum of £2,000 to a maximum of £50,000. Businesses incorporated after 01 January 2019 were asked to estimate their turnover from the date the business started. • 9384327 was incorporated on 12 January 2015 as Mamelok Ltd. The company name was changed to 9384327 on 29 September 2022. • On 07 December 2020, Mr Mamelok applied for a £50,000 BBL on behalf of 9384327, declaring the company’s turnover as £400,000. The BBL funds were received by the 9384327 on 08 December 2020. • An analysis of statements for 9384327’s bank account for the period from 01 January 2019 to 31 December 2019, shows the company received trading income of £171. • 9384327’s annual accounts for the periods 01 January 2019 to 31 December 2019 record a turnover of £95. • Based on the above turnover figures, 9384327 was not eligible for the minimum BBL amount of £2,000. Therefore, Mr Mamelok’s overstatement of 9384327’s turnover on the BBL application meant the company received £50,000 to which it was not entitled to from the BBL scheme. • 9884327 entered Creditors Voluntary Liquidation on 15 August 2024 with liabilities of £38,318, which £28,318 was made up from the BBL.
