Conduct: Russell John Mady caused JR (HC) Projects Ltd (JRHC) to trade to the detriment of Her Majestys Revenue and Customs (HMRC) from at least 7 July 2018 to its liquidation on 10 December 2019, in that: VAT JRHC did not submit VAT returns for the quarters ending 05/18, which became payable on 7 July 2018, to quarter ending 08/19. This caused HMRC to issue assessments and surcharges totalling 301,509 in respect of these VAT periods. Between 7 July 2018 and its liquidation, JRHC made payments made towards VAT totalling 15,169, which was insufficient to cover liabilities arising in all VAT periods 05/18 to 08/19. The amount claimed in respect of VAT at liquidation including penalties is 303,785. CIS / PAYE JRHC submitted CIS / PAYE returns for months March to September 2018 totalling 61,404. Subsequent monthly returns were not submitted, which caused HMRC to issue assessments totalling 147,211. Between 7 July 2018 and its liquidation, JRHC made payments made towards CIS / PAYE totalling 17,642. The last payment was on 14 September 2018, and no payments were made towards all monthly liabilities arising from October 2018 onwards. The amount owing in respect of CIS / PAYE at liquidation including penalties is 216,853. Corporation Tax JRHC filed a corporation tax return detailing a liability of 15,481 for the period ending 31 December 2016 which became payable on 1 September 2017. The return for following year was not filed, causing HMRC to issue an assessment of 17,899. No payments were made towards these liabilities between 7 July 2018 and JRHCs liquidation. The amount owing in respect of Corporation Tax including penalties at liquidation is 37,181. On 30 October 2019 HMRC issued a petition to Wind Up JRHC, following which the company was placed into creditors voluntary liquidation. Comparative Treatment Bank statements show that between 7 July 2018 and JRHCs liquidation, the company made gross payments totalling 2,079,549. According to HMRC, a total of 33,534 was paid to HMRC during this period. The last accounts made up for JRHC for the year ending 31 December 2017 record HMRC as owed 69,982, with all other creditor classes owed a total of 78,081. At liquidation on 10 December 2019, JRHC had liabilities totalling 661,052, of which 557,819 was due to HMRC including interest and surcharges.
