Conduct: Jugdeep Singh (“Mr Singh”) caused JSD Logistics Limited (“JSD”) to apply for and obtain a government backed bounce back loan (“BBL”) of £50,000, which was more than the amount to which it was entitled to by providing an overstated turnover figure. In that: • The BBL scheme enabled a business to obtain a BBL of up to 25% of its turnover for the calendar year 2019, up to a maximum amount of £50,000. Where a business was established after 1 January 2019, the applicant could apply the 25% limit to their estimated annual turnover from the date they started their business. • JSD applied for a £50,000 BBL on 5 October 2020 and stated JSD’s annual turnover for 2019 was £200,007. • JSD received the £50,000 BBL 13 October 2020. • JSD was incorporated on 3 November 2014, and began trading shortly after incorporation, so was not eligible to use an estimated turnover figure on its BBL application. • JSD’s accounts for the year ending 31 October 2019 record turnover of £38,056, which would allow it to obtain a BBL of £9,514. Its accounts for the year to 31 October 2020 record turnover of £42,375, which would allow it to obtain a BBL of £10,594. Therefore JSD received a BBL of at least £39,406 more than it was entitled to. • When JSD entered liquidation on 29 September 2022, it declared liabilities totalling £57,765. The BBL provider has claimed £46,391.87 in the liquidation.
