Conduct: Mr Jeremiah Rueben Jordan (‘Mr Jordan’) caused RHJ Accountants (Wath upon Dearne) Ltd (‘RHJ Wath’) to overstate its turnover on its application for a Bounce Back Loan (‘BBL’) resulting in RHJ Wath receiving £12,950 more than it was entitled to Furthermore, Mr Jordan failed to use £15,294 of the BBL funds for the economic benefit of the company and caused payments to be made after agreeing to put RHJ Wath into liquidation. In that: The Bounce Back Loan scheme was aimed at small and medium sized businesses to enable them to borrow between £2,000 and up to 25% of their turnover; up to a maximum of £50,000. On 29 October 2020 Mr Jordan submitted an application for a BBL of £50,000 on behalf of RHJ Wath and stated that its turnover was £200,000. RHJ Wath’s turnover for the year 2019 according to its bank statements was £148,201. Based on this figure the maximum BBL amount RHJ Wath was entitled to apply for was £37,050. On 30 October 2020 Mr Jordan was advised that RHJ Wath had a dwindling client list, little in the way of regular income and it was likely to be insolvent. On 02 November 2020 BBL funds of £50,000 was received in RHJ Wath’s bank account, £12,950 more than it was entitled to. On 24 November 2020 Mr Jordan met with an Insolvency Practitioner, where it was agreed to place RHJ Wath into liquidation. Mr Jordan informed the Insolvency Practtioner that RHJ Wath’s bank account contained approximately £18,000, which was the remaining funds from the BBL. The Insolvency Practitioner advised Mr Jordan to leave this amount in the bank and not to make any further payments to staff or creditors. After the meeting of 24 November 2020, Mr Jordan made net payments totalling £15,294 to his associated company.
