Conduct: In August 2020 Mahmood Ul Hassan Muhammad (“Dr Muhammad”) obtained a £50,000 Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) for Max Associates (UK) Limited (“Max”) which Max was not eligible for by providing misleading information about its eligibility and relevant turnover, in that: • under the BBL scheme an eligible business that was established before 01 January 2019 could apply for a loan of 25% of its turnover in the 2019 calendar year, up to a maximum of £50,000; • to be eligible, the business had to be carrying on its business on 01 March 2020; • Max was incorporated on 05 January 2011 but no evidence has been provided that Max had any turnover in the 2019 calendar year or was carrying on its business on 01 March 2020; • Max closed its bank account in August 2018 and opened a new account in November 2019, but no transactions went through the new account until July 2020; • on 04 August 2020 Dr Muhammad applied for a £50,000 BBL for Max, declaring a turnover of £219,000 and the BBL was received in the company’s bank account on 05 August 2020; • Max went into liquidation on 13 June 2023 owing £50,131 to the BBL lender.
