Conduct: On 16 January 2021, Cristi-Ionut Ilioi (“Mr Ilioi”) caused Cristi’s Food Ltd (“CFL”) to apply for a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £50,000 using an overstated turnover figure, which resulted in CFL receiving £44,452 more than it was entitled to from the BBL scheme. • Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019 or where a business was established after 01 January 2019 it was their estimated annual turnover from the date the business started; • CFL was incorporated on 12 October 2019; • CFL’s accounts for period ended 31 October 2020 showed a turnover of £22,191. Based on this, CFL would have been eligible to apply for a BBL of £5,548; • CFL received a BBL of £50,000 on 19 January 2021, the BBL application submitted by Mr Ilioi having declared that its annual turnover was £200,000; • Total liabilities at liquidation were £68,889, including £50,512 owed to the bank in respect of the BBL obtained.
