Conduct: On 12 August 2020 Lucian Matei (“Mr Matei”) provided inaccurate information concerning the turnover of L M Mechanical Ltd (“the Company”) and a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) totalling £50,000 was obtained, being £42,000 more than it was entitled to. In that: • The Company was incorporated on 13 April 2019. Mr Matei was appointed as the sole director throughout trading. As the company had been incorporated after 01 January 2019 it would have been eligible to estimate its turnover on the BBL application. • A bank account was opened with HSBC in 2019. • Accounts filled for the year ending 30 April 2020 show that the Company had received income of £31,975. These accounts were approved by Mr Matei on 18 May 2020. • On 12 August 2020, Mr Matei applied to the Company’s bank for a BBL of £50,000. He stated the turnover of the company was £250,000. • On 24 August 2020, the BBL proceeds of £50,000 were credited to the Company’s bank account. • Mr Matei was fully aware of the first year’s turnover for the Company when he made the BBL application having approved the Accounts for year ending 30 April 2020 on 18 May 2020. • Mr Matei overstated the Company’s turnover to obtain £42,000 more in BBL funding than the Company was eligible for. • Repayments totalling £7,099 were made towards the BBL leaving a total of £44,000 outstanding at liquidation.
