Conduct: Mr Adnan Janjua (“Mr Janjua”) breached the terms of the Bounce Back Loan (BBL) scheme by causing United Housing And Supported Accommodation Ltd (United) to overstate its turnover on its application for a BBL. As a result, United received a BBL of £50,000 when Mr Janjua knew or ought to have known that United was not eligible for a loan of that amount, in that: • Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019 or where a business was established after 1 January 2019 it is their estimated turnover from when the company started. • United was incorporated on 08 November 2018. • On 01 June 2020, Mr Duffy applied for a BBL of £50,000 on behalf of United, declaring a turnover of £200,000. • United’s bank statements for the period 23 August 2019 (date first income received) to 01 June 2020 show a turnover of £67,356.78 Based on this a reasonable estimate of annual turnover would be £89,809.04. United would therefore have been entitled to apply for a BBL of £22,452.26 • United received the BBL funds of £50,000 on 02 June 2020. • Therefore, United received BBL funds of £27,547.74 that it was not entitled to. • Total liabilities at liquidation amount to £53,063 of which £37,876 relates to the amount owed in respect of the BBL.
