Conduct: On or around 20 May 2020 Imran Shahzad (“Mr Shahzad”) caused H. I. S. Bathrooms Ltd (“H. I. S.”) to make a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) application for £50,000, when he knew or ought to have known that H. I. S. was not eligible to apply for a BBL of this amount. As a result, H. I. S. received BBL funds of £20,304 more than it was entitled to, in that: Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019, or where a business was established after 1 January 2019 it is their estimated annual turnover from the date that the business was started. The BBL should only be used to provide an economic benefit to the business and not for personal purposes. H. I. S. was incorporated on 01 October 2018. On or around 20 May 2020 Mr Shahzad applied for a BBL on behalf of H. I. S. for an amount of £50,000 declaring that its turnover for the calendar year 2019 was £250,000. Accounts for H. I. S. for the period ending 31 December 2019 record turnover to be £118,785, therefore H. I. S. was entitled to apply for a maximum BBL of £29,696. On 21 May 2020 H. I. S. received BBL funds of £50,000 into its bank account. H. I. S. entered creditors voluntary liquidation on 23 November 2022. Total liabilities at liquidation amounted to £48,534 of which £35,000 related to the amount owed in respect of the BBL.
