Conduct: On 15 May 2020 Mr Ehsan Mohammad-Vali (“Mr Mohammad-Vali”) caused Pizza Bella Chicken Ltd (“Pizza Bella”) to apply for a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £50,000 using an overstated turnover figure, which resulted in Pizza Bella obtaining a BBL that was £29,184 more than it was entitled to. In that: • Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019 or where a business was established after 1 January 2019 it is their estimated turnover. • Pizza Bella was incorporated on 17 April 2018 and commenced trading from that date. • On 15 May 2020, Mr Mohammad-Vali applied for a BBL of £50,000 on behalf of Pizza Bella declaring that its turnover for the calendar year 2019 was £200,000. • A bank analysis from 01 January 2019 to 31 December 2019 (calendar year) shows Pizza Bella had banked income totalling £83,263. • Accounts for the year ended 30 April 2020 show Pizza Bella achieved turnover of £77,494. • Pizza Bella received the BBL funds of £50,000 on 18 May 2020. • Considering the 2019 calendar year income, Pizza Bella was entitled to a BBL of, no more than £20,816. Meaning that the company received at least £29,184 more than it was entitled to from the BBL scheme. • Total liabilities at liquidation amount to £50,000 of which £50,000 relates to the amount owed in respect of the BBL.
