Conduct: On 28 May 2020, Reza Alighanbari (“Mr Alighanbari”) caused Bow Pizza Takeaway Limited (“Bow Pizza”) to apply for a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £50,000 using overstated turnover figures, which resulted in Bow Pizza obtaining a BBL that was £30,146 more than it was entitled to. In that: • Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019 or where a business was established after 1 January 2019 it is their estimated turnover. • Bow Pizza was incorporated on 12 February 2018. • Bow Pizza’s financial statements for the year ending 29 February 2020 show a turnover of £79,418. • Based on the financial statements to 29 February 2020, Bow Pizza would have been entitled to receive £19,854. • On 28 May 2020, Mr Alighanbari applied for a BBL of £39,000 on behalf of Bow Pizza declaring that its turnover for the calendar year 2019 was £250,000. • On 29 May 2020, funds of £39,000 were credited to Bow Pizza’s bank account. • On 16 March 2021, Bow Pizza received a top up BBL of £11,000. • At the date of liquidation on 13 December 2022, a total of £53,910 was due to creditors, of which £44,000 relates to the amount owed in respect of the BBL.
