Conduct: On or around 12 May 2020, Miss Tanem Medi (“Miss Medi”) caused or allowed Tanem Transport Services Ltd (“TTSL”) to overstate its turnover to enable it to obtain a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £50,000 when she knew or ought to have known that the company was not entitled to a loan of that amount. Furthermore, Miss Medi failed to ensure the BBL funds were used for the economic benefit of TTSL, in that: • Under the BBL scheme, businesses could apply for a BBL of up to 25% of their 2019 turnover, from a minimum of £2,000 to a maximum of £50,000. Businesses incorporated after 01 January 2019 were asked to estimate their turnover from the date the business started. • TTSL was incorporated on 09 February 2018. • On or around 12 May 2020, Miss Medi applied for a £50,000 BBL, declaring its turnover as £220,000. • On 13 May 2020, TTSL received the £50,000 BBL funds into the company bank account. • The accounts for the years ended 28 February 2019 and 28 February 2020 record turnover of £39,250 and £24,350 respectively. • Using the higher of the two figures, TTSL was entitled to apply for a maximum BBL of £9,813 and therefore received £40,187 more than it was entitled to. • The BBL scheme required the funds to only be used to provide economic benefit to the business and not personal purposes. • Between 16 May 2020 and 18 August 2020, an associated third-party individual received a net amount of £42,900 from the BBL funds. • Between 08 June 2020 and 13 August 2020, cash withdrawals totalling £4,150 were made from the BBL funds. • There is no evidence provided to show that these payments were used for the economic benefit of TTSL. • TTSL entered Creditors Voluntary Liquidation on 02 October 2024 with liabilities of £53,956, of which £49,459 related to the BBL
