Conduct: On 22nd March 2021, Mrs Habiba Lisa Ward (“Mrs Ward”) caused Chambers Building Developments Limited (“Chambers”) to apply for a Bounce Back Lon (“BBL”) of £50,000 using an overstated turnover figure. This resulted in Chambers obtaining a BBL that was at least £29,418.53 more than it was entitled to. In that: • The BBL scheme allowed business to apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 up to a 25% of their annual turnover. The submitted turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The figure was either the turnover for 2019 calendar year, or an estimated turnover if the business was established after 1 January 2019. • Chambers was established on 27th March 2017. • Analysis of bank statements show the annual turnover for 2019 for Chambers was £82,325.85. • On 22nd March 2021, Mrs Ward applied for a BBL on behalf of Chambers of £50,000 stating annual turnover of £212,000. • On 23rd March 2021, Chambers received a loan of £50,000 into the company’s bank account. • At liquidation, Chambers had total liabilities of £106,067.71, of which £47,913.82 was outstanding in respect of the BBL.
