Conduct: Allegation (updated by deponent and agreed by lawyer 02/06/2025) On 02 June 2020, Ishfaque Ahmed (“Mr. Ahmed”) caused I.S Foods Midlands Ltd (“Foods”) to obtain a £50,000 Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”), which was £26,998 more than it was eligible for, by overstating its relevant turnover. In that: • under the BBL scheme a business that was established before 01 January 2019 could apply for a loan of 25% of its turnover in the 2019 calendar year, up to a maximum of £50,000; • Foods was incorporated on 02 November 2016; • On or around 01 June 2020 Mr Ahmed applied for a £50,000 BBL for Foods and declared a turnover of £210,000; • the BBL was received into Foods’ bank account on 02 June 2020; • Foods’ accounts for the accounting year ended 31 October 2019 show a turnover of £84,813 and its bank statements show receipts in the 2019 calendar year of £92,006; • based on a turnover of £92,006, the maximum BBL Foods was eligible for was £23,002. • Foods went into liquidation on 30 March 2023 having made no BBL repayments.
