Conduct: Prince Adrian Rauf caused Launchme Ltd to apply for a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £48,750 with a turnover of £195,000 stated on the application, when company accounts evidence the turnover was insufficient to warrant a BBL of that amount and therefore Launchme Ltd received £39,541 more that to which it was entitled. In that: • Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019 or where a business was established after 1 January 2019 it was their estimated turnover. • ‘Launchme’ was incorporated on 25 January 2016. • Prince Adrian Rauf applied for a BBL dated 20 July 2020 for an amount of £48,750 on behalf of ‘Launchme’ declaring that its turnover for the calendar year 2019 was £195,000. • Accounts for the year ended 31 January 2021 show a turnover for the year ending 31 January 2020 of £36,838 in that period. • Based on this level of turnover ‘Launchme’ was entitled to a BBL loan of no more than £9,209. • £48,750 was paid in to an account held by the company on 23 July 2020 as a result of the BBL application. • Total liabilities at liquidation amount to £86,251 of which a minimum of £48,991 relates to the amount owed in respect of the BBL. • Prince Adrian Rauf states that he relied upon professional advice in relation to the Bounce Back Loan application. This is not accepted by the Secretary of State because insufficient independent evidence has been produced to substantiate that reliance and the adviser has not been able to be trace
