Conduct: On 15 May 2020, Mr Munir Ahmed (“Mr Ahmed”), caused Sky Travel World Ltd (“STW”) to breach the terms and conditions of the Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) scheme by overstating its turnover on the BBL application, as a result STW received more funds than it was entitled to from the BBL scheme. In that: Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019.   STW was incorporated on 26 October 2015. STW’s former accountant states that STW began trading on 04 January 2016. On 15 May 2020, Mr Ahmed applied for a BBL of £50,000 on behalf of STW declaring that its turnover for the 2019 calendar year was £235,000. STW received the BBL funds of £50,000 on 19 May 2020. STW’s prepared accounts show turnover of £24,561 and £7,080 for the years ended 31 October 2019 and 31 October 2020 respectively. Using the combined turnover figures from STW’s prepared accounts for 2019 and 2020, the Company would have been entitled to apply for a maximum BBL of £7,910.25. Therefore, STW has received £42,089.75 from the BBL scheme to which it was not entitled. Mr Ahmed has not provided any documentary evidence to support the stated turnover figure of £235,000 or that STW was entitled to apply for a BBL of £50,000. On 10 May 2023, STW entered Creditor’s Voluntary Liquidation with total liabilities of £41,392.98, of which £40,172.98 was owed in respect of the BBL.
