Conduct: Magdalena Bejma (“Dr Bejma”) made false representations in an application for a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £40,000 on behalf of Morbus Limited (“Morbus”) by declaring that no other BBL applications had been made on behalf of Morbus, when Morbus had already applied for and received a BBL of £37,000 from a different lender. This resulted in Morbus obtaining a second BBL of £40,000 to which it was not entitled. In that: • Under the BBL scheme businesses were able to apply for up to 25% of their turnover to a maximum of £50,000. A business was only permitted to apply for and receive one BBL under the terms of the BBL scheme. • Morbus obtained a BBL of £37,000 from a lender (“Bank A”), which was paid into Morbus’ bank account held with Bank A on 01 June 2020. • Dr Bejma made a second BBL application on behalf of Morbus requesting a BBL of £40,000 from a different lender (“Bank B”). The BBL funds of £40,000 were paid into Morbus’ bank account held with Bank B on 26 March 2021. • The application form submitted to Bank B was completed by Dr Bejma and included a declaration confirming that this was the only BBL application made for this business. This was not the case as Morbus had already applied for and received a BBL of £37,000 from Bank A. • Bank A has confirmed an outstanding balance of £9,770 at the date of liquidation and Bank B has confirmed an outstanding balance of £26,048 at the date of liquidation.
