Conduct: Mr Umare Malik (“Mr Malik”) caused or allowed Auto Motion Peterborough Ltd (“AMP”) to apply for 3 Government backed Bounce Back Loans (“BBL”) of £50,000 each that it was not eligible to apply for, having previously obtained a Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan (“CBIL”) from a different lender, in that: • On 16 April 2020, AMP received a CBIL of £90,000 from a Bank A. • On 06 July 2020 AMP received a BBL of £50,000 from Bank B which was paid into the company bank account, minus the repayment of other finance owed to this bank. • On 22 July 2020 a second BBL payment of £50,000 was received by AMP from a different lender, Bank C, into the company bank account. • On 04 January 2021 a third BBL payment of £50,000 was received by AMP from a different lender, Bank D, into the company bank account. • The BBL terms and conditions in respect of Bank B required the applicant to self-declare that AMP had not received a CBIL. • The BBL terms and conditions in respect of Bank C and Bank D required the applicant to self-declare that they had not made any other application for a BBL or CBIL for the company. • By signing or instructing another party to sign the declarations, Mr Malik gave false information in order to claim £150,000 of government backed BBL funds that AMP was not entitled to. • AMP was wound up by court order on 23 May 2023. • Following the winding up order, claims totalling £651,738.04 have been made against AMP. This includes £175,156.10 claimed by Bank A but does not include claims for any of the BBLs.
