Conduct: Alessandra Maria Lobo Gomes Lopes (“Ms Lopes”) caused Alpha Design Services Limited (“Alpha”) to breach the terms and conditions of the Bounce Back Loan (‘BBL’) scheme by overstating the turnover of the company in a BBL application, resulting in Alpha receiving a larger BBL than it was entitled to, in that: • Under the BBL scheme a business that was established before 01 January 2019 could apply for a loan of 25% of its turnover in the 2019 calendar year, up to a maximum of £50,000; • Alpha was incorporated on 06 August 2014 and its filed accounts declare it as dormant for the period from incorporation to 31 August 2019; • Alpha’s bank account was opened on 9 June 2020 and no trading income was received into it before receipt of the BBL on 8 October 2020; • Trading accounts for the year to 31 August 2020 were filed with Companies House on 25 September 2020. Full accounts for that period provided by Alpha’s accountant declare turnover of £64,211; • In October 2020 Ms Lopes applied for a £50,000 BBL for Alpha, declaring a turnover of £205,500; • The loan was received in Alpha’s bank account on 8 October 2020; • Alpha went into liquidation on 30 March 2023 owing £49,952 to the BBL lender.
