Conduct: a) Between 01 March 2015 and 30 June 2016 Mr Harrison caused or allowed Complete Energy Europe Limited (“CEE”) to use objectionable sales practices to sell heating systems. The promotional material used by CEE made false and misleading claims about the cost and efficiency of the product. CEE failed to carry out sufficient checks to ensure that the promotional literature it used was accurate and he showed a lack of stewardship by allowing third parties to have control over CEE’s affairs. During the period, CEE made sales totalling £1,695,049 and Mr Harrison and a connected party received total payments of at least £116,489 from CEE. b) Between 01 March 2015 and 30 June 2016 he caused or allowed CEE to receive payments of at least £281,151 for heating systems which were either not delivered to the customer or were defective and/or dangerous. CEE continued to sell the heating systems after it was known they were faulty. c) Between 01 March 2015 and 30 June 2016 he failed to ensure that CEE submitted any VAT returns or make any payments to HMRC. As a result, a VAT Assessment of £112,226 has been raised by HMRC.
