Conduct: Susan Norman (“Ms Norman”) caused or allowed Masterclass Solutions Limited (Masterclass), to trade at unreasonable risk to, and to the detriment of, members of the general public from 22 November 2016 onwards, resulting in losses to customers of at least £27,307, in that:

  • On 19 July 2016 Masterclass was served with a statutory demand for £24,527 in respect of undelivered tickets purchased and non refundable accommodation, which required payment by 10 August 2016. Masterclass paid £12,232 in instalments from 19 August 2016 to 12 September 2016. Masterclass failed to pay the remaining balance of £12,295 and a winding up petition was presented against it on 03 November 2016.
  • As at 10 August 2016, Masterclass had failed to supply tickets to an event to another customer, for which it had received payment in full totalling £29,496. Including additional associated costs a total of £33,020 was due to the customer. In an email to the customer on 22 November 2016, Masterclass confirmed it had failed in its contract and that it was unable to supply the tickets the customer had paid for. By liquidation a total of £8,000 had been repaid leaving a debt of £25,020 outstanding.
  • Between 22 November 2016 and 28 June 2017, Masterclass took advance payments for tickets from 7 customers totalling at least £27,307, for tickets to events which it failed to supply.
  • By the date of liquidation on 27 September 2017, £80,084 was owed to customers of Masterclass in respect of purchases made from the company for tickets to events which were not provided.
