The BBL criteria allowed a business to borrow between £2,000 and up to 25% of the company turnover (up to a maximum of a £50,000 loan). Based on income received and banked during 2019, Crepe Heaven would have been entitled to receive £2,960. Miss Holland applied for a BBL of £20,000 on behalf of the company, stating in the loan application that Crepe Heaven’s turnover for 2019 was £100,000. On 21 August 2020, funds of £20,000 were credited to Crepe Heaven’s bank account. At the date of liquidation on 01 October 2021 a total of £20,822 was due to creditors including the full amount of the BBL.
