Conduct: Child Protection UK Limited 1. Paula Ann Carson (“Mrs Carson”) caused Child Protection UK Limited (“CPUK”) to make misrepresentations to businesses in order to induce payments to CPUK for the sponsorship of educational materials which CPUK produced, in that:

  • CPUK advised potential sponsors that they were sponsoring books and DVDs as part of a campaign which required a specified number of sponsors before the products could be supplied, when in fact there was no such campaign.
  • After agreeing to an initial sponsorship, CPUK subsequently contacted sponsors stating that they had agreed to sponsor a 4 part series and as such further payment was required, when in fact no mention was made of the series of sponsorships at the initial stage.
  • CPUK made misrepresentations about its relationship with the schools which had purportedly agreed to receive the material produced and the desirability of the books and DVDs to the schools.
  • Between April 2015 and December 2017, CPUK received £871,989 from its sponsors. 2. She caused CPUK to breach some of the undertakings which she made to Court on 02 November 2010 concerning the trading practices of CPUK. Child Guidance UK Limited 3. She caused Child Guidance UK Limited (“CGUK”) to make misrepresentations to businesses in order to induce payments to CGUK for the sponsorship of educational materials which CGUK produced, in that:
  • CGUK advised potential sponsors that they were sponsoring books and DVDs as part of a campaign which required a specified number of sponsors before the products could be supplied, when in fact there was no such campaign.
  • After agreeing to an initial sponsorship, CGUK subsequently contacted sponsors stating that they had agreed to sponsor a 4 part series and as such further payment was required, when in fact no mention was made of the series of sponsorships at the initial stage.
  • CGUK made misrepresentations about its relationship with the schools which had purportedly agreed to receive the material produced and the desirability of the books and DVDs to the schools.
  • Between April 2015 and December 2017, CGUK received £840,017 from its sponsors.

  • CGUK advised potential sponsors that they were sponsoring books and DVDs as part of a campaign which required a specified number of sponsors before the products could be supplied, when in fact there was no such campaign.
  • After agreeing to an initial sponsorship, CGUK subsequently contacted sponsors stating that they had agreed to sponsor a 4 part series and as such further payment was required, when in fact no mention was made of the series of sponsorships at the initial stage.
