Chapter 31.10: Sundry Assets
INTRODUCTION
31.10 Sundry assets – explanation, chapter contents and abbreviations
(Amended February 2014)
This chapter brings together advice and information regarding assets which do not fall easily into any of the other asset related chapters of the Technical Manual. The chapter is not intended to be an exhaustive list of every type of asset, instead it provides information relating to sundry assets most likely to be encountered by the official receiver, together with information regarding how best to protect and realise these sundry assets.
Where the assets require insurance, it should be arranged in line with the guidance in Chapter 49. When the items have been sold, otherwise disposed of, disclaimed or an insolvency practitioner is appointed, the official receiver should cancel the policy in accordance with the advice in paragraph 49.27B.
The chapter is divided into 2 parts and 1 annex as follows:
Part 1 - General and unusual assets – paragraphs 31.10.1 to 31.10.43
Part 2 - Assets from other insolvency proceedings - paragraphs 31.10.44 to 31.10.51
Annex 1 - Intellectual property and other intangible assets – paragraphs 1 to 80 (as issued September 2007)
Note:
The guidance in Annex 1 was previously available as Chapter 31.10 Part 2. This guidance is in the process of being expanded and updated to be re-issued in the future as a new Technical Manual Chapter “31.10A – Intangible Assets”. Following the issue of Chapter 31.10A, Annex 1 to this chapter will be removed.
For a full alphabetical listing of the sundry assets covered by this chapter and other related asset chapters go to the Chapter 31.10 Front Page.
